TOP 5 BEST OF ROMAN ABRAMOVICH

Roman Abramovich's riches have brought some world-class footballers to Chelsea, but which five were the best?
The Russian has spent over £1 billion on transfers since taking over the Blues in 2003, and with his recent expenditure on players such as Eden Hazard, Oscar and Andre Schurrle, it appears he's only going to keep on investing.
Here, we assess the best players to have ever played under the ownership of Abramovich, but do you agree with the top five?

5. Petr Cech

Petr Cech has been branded by many as the best goalkeeper Chelsea have ever had.
For the miniature sum of around £7 million, it seems absurd that you would be able to get hold of a goalkeeper of Cech's quality. But Chelsea managed it and they haven't looked back since.
Ever since the Czech Republic international joined Chelsea, he has been one of the world's finest goalkeepers, helping the Blues to countless domestic trophies, playing a key role in the 2012 Champions League triumph.
To this day, Cech is right up there in importance to Chelsea with his teammates Juan Mata and Eden Hazard - he is a fantastic goalkeeper and one of, if not the best the west London side have ever had the pleasure of owning.

4. Claude Makelele

Any player who had a position named after them is a special player - and Makelele was the most special player of his kind anywhere in the world.
He was the epitome of the perfect defensive midfielder - perfectly timed tackles, incredible anticipation and he always seemed to be one or two steps ahead of his opponents.
When Makelele was playing in the midfield you knew about it, because the opposing midfielders didn't get a moments peace.
He is up there with the best defensive midfielders who have ever lived, and he is certainly the best who has played under Abramovich

3. John Terry

Terry has been the Chelsea captain for over a decade now and has performed at a consistent level since breaking through the academy.
He may now be showing early signs of decline but on his day, Terry was and still is right up there with the best.
He was the perfect example of what every team should have - a rock solid centre-back who motivated the team right up to the strikers.
His motivational influence was not the only aspect of his play that made him so great - he really was a world-class defender.
Chelsea's incredible defensive record under Mourinho was as much Terry's doing as it was Cech's. He had to be in the top three.

2. Didier Drogba

Didier Drogba. Where do we start?
An incredible striker, an overwhelming influence and a powerful character - one of the best.
Drogba was who he was because of his winning mentality. You could always see in his body language when Chelsea were losing he wasn't happy at all.
He would try as hard as he possibly could to turn Chelsea's fortunes around if things were not going their way.
He almost single-handedly won the 2012 Champions League final for Chelsea as he wasn't prepared to let go and his late header was absolutely unstoppable.
Not to mention his penalty - the last kick of a ball he ever made for Chelsea - and it won them the trophy they were so close to winning so many times.
He'll mainly be remembered for that night in Munich but he was a consistent performer for Chelsea season after season.
With Drogba came goals - he was absolutely unplayable in the final third, and for that he merits this second spot.

1. Frank Lampard

Frank Lampard may not only be the best Chelsea player to play under Roman Abramovich, he would certainly merit the title of Chelsea's best player of all-time.
There is no place to start with Lampard, he has done everything at Chelsea.
He was won a great deal of domestic silverware with the Blues and captained them to back-to-back European victory's in the Champions League and Europa League.
He is the club's all-time top goalscorer, an incredible feat for a midfielder. 203 goals from midfield - absolutely astonishing.
The England international was a key figure in Chelsea's first league win for half a century and his fantastic form was rewarded with a Ballon d'Or silver award, officially making him the world's second best footballer in 2005.
He to this day is one of the first names on the teamsheet for Chelsea, justifiably too. For me, Lampard is undoubtedly the best Chelsea player to play under the ownership of Roman Abramovich.
