World Player of the Week
Another weekend and another disappointment
for Manchester United - and it was largely down to the performance of
Stoke City's Charlie Adam.
The Scotland midfielder ran the show from start to finish and scored twice, the second a stunning 20-yard curler, in a dominant midfield showing that served to highlight United's failings in the middle of the park.
Goal's Alec Fenn said: "As a childhood Manchester United fan, Charlie Adam's two goals will have been all the sweeter for the 28-year-old.
"Adam has endured a tough first 18 months at the Britannia Stadium since arriving from Liverpool in 2012 but appears to be finding his feet at last.
"He now has seven Premier League goals in 22 appearances this season - making him Stoke's top goalscorer and one of their key men as they look to avoid a relegation scrap."
